The Dave Sloggett Team of the Year – Yeovil 2XV Barbarians (The Pigs)

This year’s Team of the Year faced a tough start — just two home games in the first half of the season and a few hard losses early on. But what defines this group isn’t how they started — it’s how they responded.

The Yeovil 2XV Barbarians, affectionately known as The Pigs, never let their heads drop. Week in and week out, they showed up with heart, pride, and unwavering commitment. Led by key players and driven by pure team spirit, they built something special.

The turning point? That first away win at Bridport. From there, the belief grew — and so did the performances.

Two games say it all: the home game against league champions Wiveliscombe, where The Pigs outplayed them in the first half and forced them to completely change their game plan. And the unforgettable Friday night clash with Tor — a big crowd, a physical battle, and The Pigs delivering some of their best rugby of the season.

This is a team that’s grown stronger through adversity, bonded through belief, and played for each other every step of the way.
